The road to Tiout
A palm oasis, a ruined kasbah on the hill, and lunch in a garden. Half an hour away.

Thirty kilometres south-east of Taroudant, the village of Tiout sits at the edge of a palm grove fed by old irrigation channels, with a ruined kasbah watching over it from the hill.
Walking the palm grove
Paths run between the palms and the small walled gardens where families grow henna, mint and vegetables in the shade. A local guide can show you how the water is shared between plots.

The kasbah
Climb to the kasbah for the view: the green of the oasis, the bare ochre hills and, on a clear day, the High Atlas to the north.
